Sara and Trevor’s elopement in Keystone was pure magic. They had a small, intimate gathering with their closest family, and everything started at their AirBnb where Sara got ready with her mom and sister. Everyone was a little nervous about the weather, but it didn’t stop them from making the most of every moment.
Last year, Sara and Trevor had their engagement session at a secret spot in Keystone, which made it extra special when they chose that same spot for their first family photos after the couple’s “first look.” It was a meaningful start to their day!
After soaking in the memories at the secret spot, the real adventure began with a gondola ride up to the top of Keystone Mountain, which was a favorite moment for everyone. The views over Lake Dillon were absolutely breathtaking, and because it wasn’t too crowded, it felt like the entire mountain belonged to them. I loved the fact that this elopement had a very relaxed timeline, allowing them extra time to sit at the top of the mountain and finish their vows, and even had a chance to grab crepes from the same crepe stand they visited on their first date. Elopements like this one are my favorite because nothing feels rushed!
As the day went on, we made our way to Officer’s Gulch for the vow exchange. A storm threatened to interrupt the day, but they managed to beat the rain just in time. After a few final photos, nature threw a curveball with a burst of hail, but even that couldn’t dampen the joy of their day. It was truly a stunning elopement here in Colorado!

Telluride offers one of the most unique and memorable elopement experiences with the incredible Telluride Sleighs and Wagons. Spring
Spring in Colorado is a season of transformation, where snow slowly melts away, making room for wildflowers and fresh greenery. The mornings are often crisp, and you might still find patches of snow on higher trails, especially in late March and early April. While access to certain spots could be a bit tricky, the contrast of snowcapped peaks and blooming landscapes creates a stunning setting. Spring offers quiet trails and cooler temperatures, perfect for an intimate, peaceful elopement.
Summer
The early summer season kicks off with crisp mornings and gradually warming days, ideal for eloping couples seeking both beauty and adventure. Higher elevations may still hold onto some stubborn snow patches, especially in early June, but the majestic snowcapped peaks make it worth the effort. By July and August, Colorado is in full summer mode, with wildflowers blooming and alpine lakes perfect for a swim. Although it’s high tourist season, planning a sunrise elopement ensures privacy and breathtaking moments amidst the long, vibrant summer days. Just be ready for quick afternoon rain showers during monsoon season, which bring life to the wildflowers.
Fall
Fall in Colorado is an absolute dream for elopements, with the mountains turning into a canvas of golden, orange, and red hues. Early mornings may start cool, but the days remain comfortable for outdoor activities, especially in September and early October. The vibrant colors of the aspen trees create an unforgettable backdrop for your special day. However, fall colors are fleeting and can disappear quickly with one big windstorm, so plan your elopement between mid-September and early October for the best chance to capture the beauty of the season.
Winter
Colorado’s winter is a snow lover’s paradise, turning the mountains into a glittering wonderland from December through March. Winter elopements mean a peaceful and quiet setting, with fewer tourists and stunning snowy backdrops. The snowy landscapes provide unique opportunities for activities like skiing, snowshoeing, or snowmobiling. Although snowfall can be unpredictable, the magic of a snow-covered mountain elopement is well worth embracing the chill!
